Bar Height or Dining Height: Triangle and Trey Compared

Two heights, two ways to gather

The Triangle Bar Height Table & Chairs and the Trey Dining Height Table & Chairs sit at different heights and solve different problems. The Triangle is a bar height dining table with a triangular top and swivel barstools, built as a casual conversation piece. The Trey is a traditional dining height table that expands with an 18-inch self-storing leaf to seat up to eight. Your choice comes down to how you use the room: everyday meals and larger gatherings favor the Trey, while a casual entertaining zone with a bold look favors the Triangle.

Seating capacity and configuration

• Triangle Bar Height Table & Chairs: Seats up to five comfortably, with 180-degree swivel barstools and curved bench seating. Available with 3, 4, or 6 side chairs, or with a bench in place of some chairs.
• Trey Dining Height Table & Chairs: Seats up to eight comfortably when the leaf is extended. Available with 4, 6, or 8 side chairs.

Materials and finish

The Triangle uses Rubberwood solids for its gracefully arched legs and a Warm Oak veneer finish, with saddle brown leather-like upholstery on the seats. The Trey combines Acacia and Rubberwood construction with a White Oak veneer and Remoulade Taupe performance fabric on the chairs. Both are described as family-friendly and easy to clean, but the Trey is noted as family and pet-friendly. The Trey is only available in a Washed Oak finish, while the Triangle comes in Black.

Key specifications at a glance

• Triangle Bar Height Table & Chairs: Bar-height table with a unique triangular shape and 180-degree swivel barstools. The bar height and swivel seats make it suited to casual dining and entertaining, but the triangular top may limit placement against walls.

• Trey Dining Height Table & Chairs: Dining height table with an 18-inch self-storing leaf and cable-glide system. The leaf extends seating from everyday use to larger gatherings, and the dining height suits standard chairs and long meals.

Flexibility and storage

The Trey's self-storing leaf is its standout feature: it extends effortlessly and retracts smoothly, so you can adapt the table size without finding a place to store the leaf. The Triangle does not have a leaf, so its footprint stays fixed. If you host varying numbers of guests, the Trey's expandability is a practical advantage. If you prefer a set that's always ready for casual get-togethers, the Triangle's fixed size and swivel seating keep things simple.

Placement considerations

Bar height tables like the Triangle typically work well in open-plan spaces or alongside a kitchen, where the higher surface creates a casual, pub-like feel. The triangular top is a design statement, but it may not sit flush against a wall as easily as a rectangular table. The Trey, as a dining height table, fits more conventionally in a dedicated dining room and pairs with standard-height chairs. Neither product record includes specific dimensions or assembly instructions, so measure your space carefully and check the product page for details before ordering.
